Frequently asked questions

How many square feet does a roll of wallpaper cover?

A standard US single roll is 20.5 inches wide and 33 feet long — about 56 sq ft — but the pattern repeat reduces usable length, so real coverage per roll is lower.

What is pattern repeat and why does it matter?

The repeat is the vertical distance before the pattern starts over. Matching it forces you to trim each strip, so a large repeat means fewer usable strips per roll and more rolls overall.

Should I deduct doors and windows?

Yes. This calculator deducts roughly 3 feet of wall width per opening, which covers a standard door or window.
